Licence

A Professional or Enterprise installation needs a valid licence. Without one, every metadata, data and job operation is refused, for every user, until a licence is installed. Signing in and the platform admin pages keep working, so a platform admin can always install a new licence.

Select ‘License’ from the ‘Platform admin’ menu.

Viewing the current licence

The page shows the current licence and whether it is valid — for example ‘Valid until 12 Oct 2027’ — together with its details:

  • Product — the trac product the licence is for

  • Licensed to — the organisation holding the licence

  • Issued by — the issuer of the licence

  • Active from and Expires — the period the licence is valid for

Installing or updating a licence

Licences are supplied as a certificate file (.pem, .crt, .cer or .txt).

Click ‘Update license’ (or ‘Upload license’ if none is installed) and select the file. trac checks the certificate and shows its details and validity before anything is saved, so you can confirm it is the licence you expect. A licence that has expired or can’t be read is rejected with the reason; a licence whose start date is still in the future can be saved, and takes effect from that date.

Click ‘Save license’. The new licence replaces the current one straight away.

Removing a licence

‘Remove license’ deletes the current licence after a confirmation. Until a new licence is installed, every metadata, data and job operation is refused platform-wide.
